Today marks an exciting new chapter for Smoky Scot.
Known for its bold and distinctive take on heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky, Smoky Scot has built a strong following amongst whisky drinkers who enjoy the powerful smoke, maritime character and unmistakable personality of Islay whisky.
But peat can tell very different stories.
With the launch of our new Smoky Scot Island Peat Edition: Orkney Release, we are exploring a different interpretation of island smoke and introducing a gentler side to the Smoky Scot character.
A Different Kind of Peat
Produced using single malt Scotch whisky from Orkney, this limited Island Peat Edition takes Smoky Scot in a new direction.
The island’s heather-rich peat imparts a distinctive style of smoke that is fragrant, floral and gently earthy. Rather than dominating the spirit, the smoke drifts gracefully through the whisky, adding depth and character while allowing its honeyed sweetness, fruit and delicate spice notes to shine.
The result is an aromatic and refined single malt that offers a new perspective on the familiar Smoky Scot style.
While smoke remains at the heart of the experience, this is a whisky that demonstrates just how much character and variety can be found in Scotland’s island peats.
A New Chapter for Smoky Scot
The new Island Peat Edition sits alongside our original Smoky Scot expression, which has become known for its youthful and lively Islay character.
The original release delivers the bold peat smoke, maritime influence and powerful flavours associated with Islay. Our new Orkney Release, however, offers a softer and more aromatic expression, shaped by the distinctive character of Orkney’s peat.
Together, the two whiskies offer an opportunity to explore how peat and place can influence the character of a single malt in very different ways.
And this may only be the beginning…
Scotland’s islands are home to an extraordinary variety of whisky styles, landscapes and traditions. With the Island Peat Edition, we are opening the door to exploring more of those distinctive island characters through the Smoky Scot range.
For now, though, our journey continues in Orkney.
